The original oceanfront rooms offer easy access to the beach.
About the Workshop
A very special workshop in a very spacial place. The southern Oregon coast features an abundance of amazing sea stacks from Brookings to Bandon.
In addition to sea stacks, this workshop will also visit some amazing venues for photography including Blacklock Point, Cape Blanco (the second farthest point west in the continental US), Cape Arago, Shore Acres, and Sunset Cove.
As an added bonus, I've planned this workshop during moonless nights when the Milky Way will be shining bright (sky conditions permitting). I will provide detailed instructions (written and in the field) on how to successfully photograph the stars.
You will learn to see more creatively through your camera, and how to use the camera as a tool. You will be given opportunities to experiment with composition, how to choose the right lens, and the importance how shutter speed and aperture affect an image and are used for creative effects. Most importantly, you will discover the different properties of natural light and how it affects your photographs.
NOTE: The hike to Blacklock point is tentative. It will require favorable weather trail and conditions (as of early July, the trail was dry). The hike to Secret beach is also tentative.

The hike to Blacklock Point is flat and fairly short (about 2 miles each way). The hike to Secret Beach is 3/4 mile each way and is steep and muddy in places. All other venues involve walking on flat beaches with some rocks and drift wood in places.

Personalized Experience

In order to provide each student tailored and individual attention, the workshop will be limited to 6 participants. A waiting list will be available.

About Port Orford and Bandon, OR
